One of the most pressing issues for someone looking for alcohol treatment is the lack of affordable interventions.
Especially these days, more and more people are having a more difficult time just getting by financially. To make matters worse, this is also when most people tend to gravitate towards the bottle, the needle, the pipe, or what-have-you.
When alcoholics and addicts are in the midst of their disease, it becomes a total obsession. Everything we as alcoholics and addicts do revolves around our substances of choice: getting more, where to get more, how to get money for more, how long will our current supply last, who can I go to so I can get more, and so on.
It should be no surprise, that when many of us come in, we have absolutely nothing left. Why, then, do most alcohol treatment and drug treatment centers cost an arm and a leg to conduct an intervention?
It is not uncommon, too, for families to be run into the ground financially by an alcoholic in his cups. If a family is struggling to simply keep a roof over their heads, it becomes a much harder case to seek help when everywhere a person looks, prices can be as high as that for a car.
However, that is not what recovery teaches us. Recovery teaches us that affordable interventions are not just the right thing to do, but that it is a responsibility for all treatment centers to offer such services at a reasonable price.
Ideally, we would not charge; however, ideally, we also would not be in this mess in the first place!
That said, though, a quality alcohol treatment program will do what it feasibly can to help those who are seeking recovery from addiction and alcoholism. As recovering addicts and alcoholics ourselves, it is our responsibility to help those who ask as best we can.
The alternatives are grim at best.
Although there are many different paths to finding an alcohol treatment program that works, it is important that the addict or alcoholic actually find one. There is no tomorrow when the hours, minutes, and seconds are ticking off the clock, putting us one moment closer to the endgame of a fatal malady.
There are affordable interventions possible.
Affordable interventions make finding those solutions a little bit less chaotic. There is nothing quite like the stress of a collapsing life, only to be brought to the point of no hope when faced with sticker-shock at some of the prices many alcohol treatment programs offer for their affordable interventions.
There will always be excuses to not seek treatment. However, there are those of us out there who will do whatever it takes to keep those excuses at bay. Of all the reasons not to seek treatment, finances should be at the bottom of the list.
While some may say that you get what you pay for, it is hard to argue against willingness to seek help and a treatment program that has worked miracles on people who had all but given up.
